Your voice is my priority
Brad was born and raised in rural Northern California. His father had a career as a wildland firefighter and served in law enforcement. Both sets of his grandparents were involved in the logging industry. While Brad was in high school, he was actively engaged in student government activities and participated in the Youth Conservation Corps. Brad’s work there included maintaining wilderness trails and enhancing public recreational spaces, particularly focusing on improving the habitats for fish in distant mountain streams. After completing high school, Brad pursued the Administration of Justice Program at the College of the Redwoods. During summers, he worked in the lumber mills.
In 1989, Brad moved to Lakeport and began his career at the City of Lakeport Police Department where he currently serves as Chief of Police. Brad has held various positions, including officer, detective, undercover narcotics investigator, sergeant, and lieutenant. He has been dedicated to ongoing training and education within the law enforcement field. Throughout his 34-year career, Brad has primarily served in roles related to training, supervision, management, and top leadership.
Beyond his police department responsibilities, Brad has been an integral part of the City of Lakeport's executive management and leadership team. Collaborating closely with all other city departments as well as working with various organizations and government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels, Brad plays a crucial role in the city's office of emergency services, taking charge of planning, responding to, and aiding in recovery from disasters.
Brad has actively engaged in community organizations like the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs for over 14 years. Additionally, he has actively participated in multiple community, nonprofit, and government boards and committees dedicated to serving the Lake County Communities and their residents. He has undertaken numerous projects that benefit the community, while also focusing on supporting local youth including providing vocational and academic college scholarships.
Brad is a family man and acknowledges his wonderful wife, Karyn (a Lakeport resident since 1978), for the unwavering support she has provided throughout his commitment to serving the community in various capacities and they recently celebrated 31 years of marriage. Together, they have nurtured two remarkable daughters who attended local public schools before embarking on their journeys towards higher education. Stephanie currently serves as a Medical Doctor at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York and Savannah passionately serves as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, focusing her efforts on assisting children with autism spectrum disorder.
With a solid commitment and a proven track record, Brad possesses the essential training, education, experience, and deep understanding of the community. These attributes will enable Brad to be the best choice to serve as the District 4 Supervisor, following his upcoming retirement from the Lakeport Police Department.
